100 years of innovation: celebrating ESTACA's centenary
ESTACA celebrated its 100th anniversary on the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines campus with two events: October 16 for partners and contributing alumni, and October 18 for students, alumni, staff and their families. These two days marked one of the highlights of an eventful anniversary year, following the inauguration of new premises in Laval (and soon those in Bordeaux), the Centenary Gala and the Centenary Challenge.
A look back at the October 18 event...
100 years of innovation in the service of mobility: with exhibitions, student projects, exchanges with associations and visits to research laboratories, the post-midday event was all about commitment to tomorrow's mobility.
An immersive journey through one hundred years of engineering
Throughout the afternoon, guests wandered through the exhibition spaces tracing the parallel history of the school and transport. From ESTACA's creation on rue Boutebrie to its current three campuses, the exhibition highlighted a century of educational development, student life and community projects.
Visitors were also able to discover the research work being carried out within ESTACA'Lab, around the themes of electric and autonomous mobility, new energies and air quality. Six technology platforms were open to the public, illustrating the School's contribution to the transition towards more sustainable transport.
Students at the heart of the mobility of the future
As part of the celebrations, students presented their projects from the "Imagine the Transport of the Future" Challenge, which had been awarded the Centenary label. Selected from 25 initiatives carried out on the three campuses, six finalist projects were exhibited in the form of models, demonstrators and videos. Three of them had won awards from a jury of professionals from Safran, Dassault Aviation and Akkodis:
- Black Gold Sailor, autonomous robot for harbor and coastal cleaning (Sustainable Development Award) ;
- BlueSmart Robotics, an intelligent robot dedicated to new forms of mobility (New Mobility Award);
- NavSight, autonomous navigation solution for drones without GPS (Innovation Award).
The public was also able to discover the wealth of associative projects that make ESTACA so unique: prototypes designed for Formula Student, energy vehicles for the Shell Eco Marathon, eco-designed hydrofoil sailboat, experimental drones and rocketsThese are just some of the achievements that reflect the creativity, rigor and team spirit that have been the hallmarks of ESTACA for over a century.
A forward-looking celebration
Families and children alike enjoyed a festive afternoon snack and catered entertainment.
Through this centenary, ESTACA pays tribute to one hundred years of ingenuity and passion for transport, while affirming its ambition for the decades to come: to train engineers who will imagine and build the mobility of tomorrow.
"ESTACA, a hundred years ahead of its time."
