A ranking published by Le Figaro Étudiant in early January 2024 reveals the most attractive engineering schools for final-year students on Parcoursup.ESTACA came 6th for all schools combined, and 1st for private engineering schools.

Selection criteria taken into account

All the data in this ranking comes from Parcoursup. Le Figaro studied the number of applicants who put the various courses in their wishes and the students actually admitted. ESTACA comes in just after a number of major public engineering schools (INSA, UTC), and ranks first among private engineering schools. Unlike many private schools, ESTACA is a not-for-profit association, qualified as an Établissement d'Enseignement Supérieur Privé d'Intérêt Général (EESPIG) by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, in recognition of its commitment to fulfilling a public service mission.

Ranking confirms ESTACA's academic excellence

In 2023, the school received 11,096 applications for a total of 4,153 admissions. ESTACA's overall selectivity rate is 37%. However, this selectivity rate varies from one campus to another: the access rate for Terminales Générales at ESTACA Paris-Saclay was 40%, while for Terminales Générales at ESTACA Laval it was 35%. Finally, for STI2D Terminales at ESTACA Laval, the figure was 21%. This ranking confirms the very high level of students who have been entering ESTACA for several years. Over 93% of students admitted this year, for example, obtained a mention Bien or Très bien.

The weight of the Concours Avenir exams

As a reminder, ESTACA recruits at BAC level via the Concours Avenir, which is based 40% on the candidate's academic record (first and final year) and 60% on the results of the written exams (scientific specialties and English). This means that all candidates from the general final year of secondary school who have chosen ESTACA take the written tests, and therefore have every chance of passing the competitive entrance exam. STI2D students sit the oral exams in place of the written ones.
Other levels of admission are also available at BAC+1, +2 or +3 for students choosing CPGE, BUT or licence courses: more info here!
