Aeronautics Conference: SaM146, the driving force behind Franco-Russian cooperation

SaM146, the engine of Franco-Russian cooperation

The development of this engine began in the early 2000s, with a Russian partner open to Western methods. This project is a wonderful story of men and women who have crossed many borders to design, produce, test and certify the SaM146.

Benoît BIRAUD, SaM146 brand manager at SAFRAN Aircraft Engines, will take us back to the adventure of these modern-day pioneers.

The SaM146 is an 8-ton thrust turbojet designed for the 100-seat aircraft market. It is the fruit of Franco-Russian cooperation between Safran Aircraft Engines and UEC-Saturn. It powers Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company's SuperJet regional jet, which competes with the Bombardier CRJ and Embraer E195.
