Appointments - ULM paramotor champion
Romain Mauban, who graduated in 2013 and is currently deputy head of CFM56 programs at Safran Aircraft Engines , was crowned French paramotor champion 2025 and World team champion 2025.
Paramotoring is one of the six ultralight disciplines, and undoubtedly the most accessible. After a theoretical and practical certificate, you can fly this machine, which is very similar to a paraglider, but equipped with an engine in the back, enabling you to take off from a simple field without any relief, while enjoying a stable, serene flight.
Three types of event stand out. Maneuverability tests precision, with landings on a very small target on the ground, or by touching down on pegs on the ground. Navigation tests require rigor and concentration: you have to follow a course set out on a map, and announce your times to the nearest second. Lastly, the fuel-saving events aim to cover the greatest distance with a limited amount of fuel, which requires anticipation and fine-tuned piloting skills.Last May, Romain won the title of French champion. At the World Championships, held in Chambley at the end of August, a mechanical incident deprived him of the individual podium. But thanks to the combined performances of the French drivers, the team won the world title by nation.
Congratulations on these titles!
